P90X Equipment Needed
Just a quick note for you guys looking to save some dough on P90X equipment. They try to up sell you a bunch of stuff you don’t need, so here is what you can do instead:
Pull Up Bar – Don’t buy their pull up bar, it kind of sux, get the Iron Gym Original version instead. Do not get the new Xtreme one that one sucks too! Cost $19.99
Weights (Optional)- For some of you, weights might be a good option. You really don’t need to go crazy and get a lot of different weights, the key is to get a good set of dumbells and plates so you can change the weight on the fly. Important you don’t NEED weights you can do almost all of the movements using resistance bands. Cost $30 – 80 (try craigslist)
Resistance Bands – Like I mentioned before, most of the movements can be done using resistance bands. If you think these things are joke you have no idea how well they work. I’ve seen guys who are absolutely cut who mostly use resistance bands. If you’re someone who lifts a lot maybe its worth trying this instead to shock your muscles with a new type of resistance. They actually have pretty good bands, but you can find cheaper ones online. Cost – $15.00
Here is some BS you really don’t need
Yoga Matt/ Yoga Block – Unless you have hardwood floors you’ll be working out with no rug you don’t need a yoga matt. As for a yoga block, you can just use your fingertips so skip that too. Cost $29.99
Push Up Bars – I skipped this. Yes you may want to get more range of movement but you can always get them later if you think you need them.
Recovery Drink – Specially formulated my ass… just do your own research and make your own drinks.
Protein Powder – Again just buy what works for you both price and type of protein.
Energy Bars - I just get whats on sale whether its PowerBars or Cliff bars, don’t see why theirs are “so special”
If you buy smart you can get all the equipment for under $100 and you will be well on your way to getting the body you want.
