First Week of P90X – 3 Things You Have to Know

Author     Category P90X     Tags ,

Finally, my first week of P90X is over. This has honestly been one of the longest most arduous weeks of my life. The first day I had a buddy of mine who I consider pretty fit join me and even he couldn’t keep up!

The very first day the program expected me to do 300 push ups and 300 pull ups?! Needless to say I didn’t even come close but like Tony Horton says (the trainer in the DVDs) “Try your best and forget the rest!”

Anyway, here are three things you should know before you decide to try P90X for yourself

1. If you are SEVERELY out of shape DO NOT start P90X. I’m just being dead honest, this program is not designed for those who have never done any kind of resistance training in the past. You will fail, it’s just that simple. You are better off doing some light training on your own for a few months and maybe then trying this out.

2. These workouts are loooonggg!!! I thought that this would be the typical 20 – 30 minute DVDs I’ve seen before, but no, get ready to commit to 90 minutes of non stop hard work. You have to put yourself first to squeeze in this amount of time either wake up early before work, or do it first thing after work. If you wait till after dinner you will not do the workout.

3. The diet will change the way your energy levels work. What do I mean by that? Well I’ve always eaten healthy, but I noticed that throughout the day my energy always dipped and waned. However, the P90X diet seemed to level out my energy throughout the day which was very refreshing but did take a few days to get used to. Just wanted to point this out to you guys since this caught me off guard – you will feel like you can run a marathon instead of a sprint!

My body aches (in a good way I swear) but I know I gotta fight through this. You get one day off in P90X and I decided to make Sunday that day.

Have you decided to try P90X? What’s your progress like?
