Hi, my name is Alex, and just like you I’ve been bombarded with these P90X ads online, on the radio, and even on TV! If you are reading this, you want to know: “Does P90X work and is it worth the money?”

I started this blog to answer this question. After hours of research I still was not convinced until I started asking everyone I knew if they tried the program. I finally found an acquaintance who was able to get a six pack in just 60 days.

Intrigued I decided to order P90X here and blog about my results…

WHY I DECIDED TO GET IN SHAPE

After years of neglecting my body I was fed up with both how I felt and how I looked. I was in decent shape through college, but once I got a “desk jockey” job GAME OVER!

Sitting on your ass 8+ hours a day kept my belly growing. By the time I got home the last thing I wanted to do was change, go to the gym, wait my turn to use equipment, drive home, take a shower, etc. and so I kept getting fatter for 6 years.

Most people who decide to get in shape have a “moment” when they realize its time for a change. Mine came when I got the Wii Fit for my girlfriend. There is nothing more eye opening than having a machine tell you that you’re OBESE!!!

I knew I had to get in shape, so I tried the usual. First I changed my diet (Atkins) but I couldn’t fight my cravings. I then decided to start running and had good results, but again they didn’t last. Lastly, I decided maybe if I build muscle I’ll burn more calories, but as usual going to the gym was a disaster.

I needed a program that addressed everything including diet, strength, flexibility, all from home and easy enough for anyone to do.

MY HONEST REVIEW OF P90X

I have to be upfront and let you know that there are a few major drawbacks to P90X. The first is that in addition to the program you will need secondary equipment (pull up bar, resistance bands, etc). In fact, it seemed like there was a never ending stream of things they tried to up sell you from their energy bars, protein shakes, recovery drinks and more.

Good news, you don’t need all of that other equipment and supplements. All you need are the DVDs and the free fitness guide and you are ready to rock and roll.

My second issue was how tough the program is, definitely not for those who have NEVER worked out before. The first week will be the toughest not only because your body will have a hard time adjusting to the new movements, but you will have to find the inner strength and motivation to keep going.

After a few weeks it will be as routine as brushing your teeth and thats when you’ll see the most drastic results. I lost 19lbs just my first month alone.

The DVDs are great. Tony Horton the main trainer is pretty entertaining, from his Dinosaur impressions to his Forest Gump references, you will not be bored working out.

Each DVD (12) is very impressive with a wide array of movements I haven’t seen before and will keep you challenged week after week. They have a wide array of workouts including strength training, plyometrics, yoga, and more. Tony also takes the time to show you how to modify the movements to make them easier or harder for yourself.

There really is no excuse he even had a man with a prosthetic leg perform in the Plyometrics DVD… this you have to see to believe!

IS P90X WORH THE MONEY?

Well that really depends on you, but let me explain to you how I rationalized the purchase instead of just downloading it from some sketchy illegal website.

1. We know P90X works, there have been 1,000s of real life testimonials.

2. The hardest part about P90X is motivating yourself to workout.

3. One of the easiest ways to motivate yourself is MONEY!!!

4. By buying the program you will feel like your wasting your money if you DON’T work out!

Stay with me on this. Have you ever sat through a movie you didn’t like? If you have then you know the power of money to make you do something. You felt like you paid the $12.50 ticket + $7.00 in snacks and you wanted to get your moneys worth, even if it meant sitting through a boring movie.

Paying for this program works the same way, you will feel the NEED to workout because you paid money for it, and unlike the gym membership which costs even more, you won’t have the excuse of having to drive to workout!

It’s so easy just pop in the DVD, imagine doing that on your computer, don’t fool yourself if your serious get the real deal.

What are you waiting for? Click here to visit the official P90X website and place your order today.

P.S. P90X is so confident in their program they are even offering a money back guarantee in the first month. Learn more…

Today during the bicepts, tricpes, and shoulders workout I snapped my resistance band. I thought I bought a pretty good set, but I guess I was wrong. Luckily it did snap back in my eye or something awful, but it did piss me off as I had to stop my workout early (only half way done).

I hoped onto craigslist to see if I can score some dumbbells ASAP. So what should you look for in buying weights for P90X?

I scoured my local Bay Area craigslist to first see if I can find free weights. I did find a few free sets but the owners requested you take ALL their equipment including benches and other heavy looking pieces. On top of that when it’s free it was often times rusty and covered in filth.

So I continued my search. I realized that I didn’t have much room so buying multiple dumbells (as you need various weights for the workouts) didn’t make much sense. I decided to buy dumbells that involve plates this way I can mix and match to get my desired total weight.

Example: If I buy 2 dumbell handles with 2x 10lb plates 8x 5lb plates I can make almost any combination I need to push myself to reach that magical goal of 8 – 12 reps and still feel the burn on the last 3.

Another important thing to decide is the radius of the handles. Do you prefer a thicker handle or a thinner one?

I finally found a guy who was selling good quality weights for $60 US so I headed over and chatted up with him a bit. He asked what it was for and I told him P90X. Once again someone who tried gave me rave reviews!

He even gave me a bonus tip for a homemade version of the “recovery drink”. He claimed that if you buy soy milk and combine it with the cheapest protein powder along with 1 piece of fruit you will recover much quicker after your workouts. I tried his home brew with unsweetened soy milk, soy protein, and soy banana, and I have to admit that my body did like that much better than all the lactose I drank before using milk and yogurt.

Anyway, back to working out.

I can’t believe a month has passed. After the first week I really started to get in the groove of things. Learning the movements and overcoming the mental barrier to quit were the two hardest things for me.

The diet plan was so easy and delicious that it was just a pleasure to follow it. I didn’t starve myself and the recipes were easy enough even for a novice cook like myself.

I didn’t go crazy with measuring my body fat and all that other nonsense because my biggest gauge for my success is how I feel not a bunch of numbers. And how I feel is great! But for those who must know the numbers I started at 225lbs and after month1 lost about 15lbs (bounces 2lbs from day to day)!

Here are my 1 month pictures.

Oh yeah I decided to shave my head. Also, I created a P90X Results page to track my progress.

Finally, my first week of P90X is over. This has honestly been one of the longest most arduous weeks of my life. The first day I had a buddy of mine who I consider pretty fit join me and even he couldn’t keep up!

The very first day the program expected me to do 300 push ups and 300 pull ups?! Needless to say I didn’t even come close but like Tony Horton says (the trainer in the DVDs) “Try your best and forget the rest!”

Anyway, here are three things you should know before you decide to try P90X for yourself

1. If you are SEVERELY out of shape DO NOT start P90X. I’m just being dead honest, this program is not designed for those who have never done any kind of resistance training in the past. You will fail, it’s just that simple. You are better off doing some light training on your own for a few months and maybe then trying this out.

2. These workouts are loooonggg!!! I thought that this would be the typical 20 – 30 minute DVDs I’ve seen before, but no, get ready to commit to 90 minutes of non stop hard work. You have to put yourself first to squeeze in this amount of time either wake up early before work, or do it first thing after work. If you wait till after dinner you will not do the workout.

3. The diet will change the way your energy levels work. What do I mean by that? Well I’ve always eaten healthy, but I noticed that throughout the day my energy always dipped and waned. However, the P90X diet seemed to level out my energy throughout the day which was very refreshing but did take a few days to get used to. Just wanted to point this out to you guys since this caught me off guard – you will feel like you can run a marathon instead of a sprint!

My body aches (in a good way I swear) but I know I gotta fight through this. You get one day off in P90X and I decided to make Sunday that day.

Have you decided to try P90X? What’s your progress like?

Just a quick note for you guys looking to save some dough on P90X equipment. They try to up sell you a bunch of stuff you don’t need, so here is what you can do instead:

Pull Up Bar – Don’t buy their pull up bar, it kind of sux, get the Iron Gym Original version instead. Do not get the new Xtreme one that one sucks too! Cost $19.99

Weights (Optional)- For some of you, weights might be a good option. You really don’t need to go crazy and get a lot of different weights, the key is to get a good set of dumbells and plates so you can change the weight on the fly. Important you don’t NEED weights you can do almost all of the movements using resistance bands. Cost $30 – 80 (try craigslist)

Resistance Bands – Like I mentioned before, most of the movements can be done using resistance bands. If you think these things are joke you have no idea how well they work. I’ve seen guys who are absolutely cut who mostly use resistance bands. If you’re someone who lifts a lot maybe its worth trying this instead to shock your muscles with a new type of resistance. They actually have pretty good bands, but you can find cheaper ones online. Cost – $15.00

Here is some BS you really don’t need

Yoga Matt/ Yoga Block – Unless you have hardwood floors you’ll be working out with no rug you don’t need a yoga matt. As for a yoga block, you can just use your fingertips so skip that too. Cost $29.99

Push Up Bars – I skipped this. Yes you may want to get more range of movement but you can always get them later if you think you need them.

Recovery Drink – Specially formulated my ass… just do your own research and make your own drinks.

Protein Powder – Again just buy what works for you both price and type of protein.

Energy Bars - I just get whats on sale whether its PowerBars or Cliff bars, don’t see why theirs are “so special”

If you buy smart you can get all the equipment for under $100 and you will be well on your way to getting the body you want.

Oh and if you still haven’t ordered P90X click here

I finally got my P90x kit that came with the DVDs, workout guide, nutrition guide, and a few other goodies. The total cost was under $50 bucks – but that’s just month one. It turns out you get billed monthly for the program and the total cost after the full 90 days will be $200!

You might say that’s wayyy too much, especially since a lot of you are going to go try to find it for free on torrents, but here is the weird psychological secret to the correlation between cost and results that my hypnosis friend taught me.

He charged his clients upwards of $500 dollars per session. I wondered why didn’t he charge less and probably get more clients. His answer, “Only when someone is willing to pay a lot to quit are they serious about it.” That’s how he was able to keep his success rate so high, people who were willing to pay that kind of money were committed to succeeding.

Here is how I broke down the cost in my mind, maybe this exercise will help you too.

1. I’ve wasted $1,000’s of dollars on things that were bad for my body over the years whats a couple hundred dollars to make me healthy?

2. $200 dollars to get in shape is nothing when a typical trainer can cost that much for just one session.

3. The payments were broken out by month which makes them even cheaper than going to the gym!

Lastly, and here is the big reason why I knew I should pay for the program instead of try to get it for free is that I knew by paying that amount I would be much more likely to actually follow the instructions instead of letting it sit on my hard drive in some folder I’ll never open again.

Have you ever sat through a bad movie in the movie theater?

If you have you probably did it because you felt like you already spent the money on the ticket and snacks and wanted to get your money’s worth. Well it is the same thing with this program.

“By buying the program you are taking the first step to committing towards changing your body and your life”

If you are ready to take this step click here and order P90X – don’t wait the longer you put it off the harder it will be!

If you’re reading this you probably hit that breaking point too, whether it’s a health issue, a concern from a friend, an upcoming event, or like in my case being borderline “obese” according to the Wii Fit!

I knew that getting a gym membership was not enough and I would just be flushing a monthly fee down a toilet. To succeed you have to be able to work out ANYWHERE and so I started my search for the perfect at home program to get me back in shape.

After hours of research and first hand testimonials from friends I chose P90x by BeachBody. Keep reading to see if P90X is right for you…

Here’s some more info about me, maybe you can relate. I was never a superstar athlete, but I was fairly active in high school and even college. It wasn’t until I graduated and got a desk jockey job that the pounds started to stack. I kept telling myself it’s just as few pounds and I can lose them whenever I want, well 5 years later, my body looks like the Michelin man and Pillsbury dough boy had a baby (i know 2 men can’t make a baby but stay with me).

If you think you aren’t “that out of shape” ask yourself the following questions to see how out of shape you really are:

Are you embarrassed when you look in the mirror shirtless?

Can you touch your toes without bending your knees?

Do you get winded going up more than 2 flights of stairs?

Do you feel sore the next day after using your muscles (groceries, yard work, etc)?

The reason I asked all the questions is because fitness is more than how you look. There are three critical parts; strength, flexibility, and endurance. Even if you worked on one aspect you are not really in shape until you work on all three. Example:douchebags who only lift and despite their muscles look stupid when doing anything athletic (like throwing a football).

What’s great about P90X is they understand the importance on all three parts of fitness when getting you in shape. The program will be the first time in my life that I take this point seriously. In high school I ran cross country (endurance). In college I lifted weights (strength) and recently I’ve tried Yoga (flexibility).

All the workouts in the world won’t get you very far without the right diet. Again P90X had this part of your fitness routine covered. They brought on a nutritionist that designed a fool-proof diet guide to get the results you want, whether its to burn fat, gain more energy, or grow your muscles.

I started asking people I knew if they ever heard of the program and what their experience was. To my surprise there was 2 guys who had tried it and both had very good things to say. Neither finished the full 90 days which made me want to try it even more to see if I can stick it out for the full 90 days. Think you can do it?

Here is why P90x sold 100,000’s of times and continues to be the go to home fitness regiment for people looking to get in shape quickly!

1. Convenience of being able to work out anywhere (at home, at the gym, in a hotel room, etc)

2. Comes with a complete and flexible diet guide that makes eating healthy delicious and a breeze

3. Focuses on all three elements of fitness: flexibility, strength, endurance)

4. Has 12 different workouts to make sure you never get bored from plyometrics to yoga

5. Promises to get you “IN THE BEST SHAPE OF YOUR LIFE IN 90 DAYS!!!”

6. Has a No-Risk Gaurantee

I ordered the Official P90X Program here and can’t wait to get started. Stay tuned as I start on my journey to get in the best shape of my life!
